Manchester’s food and drink festival is back and that means that it’s fabulous awards are too. The prestigious show of culinary genius in the North West will take place in September after the voting closes to the public.

This year, the battle between Aiden Byrne and Simon Rogan plays on beyond the screens of it’s BBC programme Restaurant Wars.

Both Byrne and Rogan’s executive chef Adam Reid have been nominated for the award of Best Chef, while their respective projects Manchester House and Mr Coopers House and Garden will go head to head for prize of Best Restaurant.

Other hopefuls in the battle for the prestigious Best Restaurant award are 63 Degrees, Aumbry, Australasia, and Nutter’s.

Other awards include the year’s best: newcomer, tea room, pub, bar and restaurant for affordable eating.

Last year’s winner of best bar Gorilla, will this year be usurped by one of six nominations that again include the bars of Rogan and Byrne as well as favourites Kosmonaut and Neighbourhood in Spinningfield’s.

Popular eatery Albert’s Chop House also makes its way into the fray with a nomination for best food pub of the year.

Winners will be decided when the public votes have been cast and combined with the mystery shoppers who will be attending the establishments over the next two months. The awards will take place on September 29.
